I'm here to support you through these early days of motherhood ... because let's be real, they can be insanely hard!
Maybe you found me by chance, maybe you're here from a friend's referral or you saw me online ... but whatever path you took to get here, I'm guessing you're wondering if counselling would be helpful for you right now.
Here's what I know for sure:
Motherhood is hard, quite possibly the hardest transition you'll go through. So if you're suffering, just know that you are far from alone.
I also know that we all need support.
Our cultural push to be-all-the-things and manage everything seamlessly is so unrealistic and causes a lot of pain.
And lastly, I know that connecting through video chats can feel incredibly meaningful, therapeutic, and supportive.
The mom's I work with tell me over and over again how incredible it is to be able to sign-in to our sessions and skip the logistical nightmare of booking and making it to an in-person session.
Sometimes, online counselling is the only way that it can work.

I Offer A FREE Consultation
Effective counselling has a lot to do with how well the client and therapist connect. This is why I am happy to offer a free consult call - this gives you a chance to ask questions and see if you'd like to work with me, and it gives me a chance to make sure I'm a good fit for you and your concerns.
There's 2 options:
If you'd like a phone consult call then chose this option and go straight to my booking calendar to choose a time.
If you'd prefer a video-based consult call, great! Register as a client, visit the calendar page on your account and choose a time.
I primarily support women in my counselling practice, particularly relating to their transition to motherhood and the multitude of challenges that can emerge during this time and the years that follow.

How Does Online Counselling Work?
Online counselling works similarly to in-person counselling, we just meet online:)
We can start by setting up a free consultation call - this would be a quick video or phone call to identify whether we are a good fit for one another (research shows over and over again that the counsellor-client relationship and fit is actually the most important indicator of successful counselling!).
Then if we both determine that we'd like to work together, we can make a plan, discuss how often to have sessions, etc.
Once you decide to go ahead with counselling, you'll need to register as a client (a quick online process) and then you'll be able to access the secure client-portal where you self-book sessions, send/receive messages from me, and that's where our video calls take place. You don't need to download anything.
At your session time, you just need to log in, and I'll initiate the video call through that system. It works very well and is quite intuitive!
Why Choose Online Counselling?
Well, it's incredibly convenient and often fits into busy mom's lives more easily than face-to-face counselling. Here are some other benefits that you'll notice:
All about your schedule
I offer a wide range of sessions throughout days, evenings, and weekends that you can view and self-book (no need to talk to me or juggle with my schedule). When you sign up as a client, you'll be able to view my calendar and book an online session when it works best for you.
If you don't see a time that works for you, just email me through the secure client-portal and let me know what time you're hoping for and I'll see what I can do:)
There's also less time commitment with online counselling because you won't have to commute to an office or sit in a waiting room. 1 hour is 1 hour only!
Comfort of your home
PJs and tea? Sure, go for it! What I love about online counselling is that you can be in the comfort of your own home, feeling settled and relaxed. This is often what makes it possible for a new mom to carve out time for a counselling session.
There'll be no interruptions during travel, moving, re-locating or other life changes that make traditional in-person appointments challenging. This helps you stay on track with your goals.
Increased Privacy And Confidentiality
It's so important that you feel safe and trust that our communication is private. With online counselling, there is no risk of seeing anyone at the counselling office, or having your information stored in a cabinet. All notes and information about you is stored through a secure online portal (HIPPA compliant and encrypted).
I commit to doing everything in my power to keep your information safe and secure. I also commit to conducting our sessions in a private and professional setting.
With online counselling, you have a role to play in keeping our work private and confidential. It's important that you find a safe, quiet, and private setting to have our video sessions, or review/write emails.

Can We Use iPads or Other Devices?
The counselling platform works on all devices (if you're interested, I use "Counsol", which is a therapy-specific online platform).
It's nice to have a larger screen, but a smartphone will also work in a pinch.
You do not have to download anything, just have a good internet connection, decent upload speeds, and that's it! The initial consult call helps us iron out these details as well.
What Kinds of Issues Are Suited for Online Counselling?
Not all issues are suitable for online counselling. Most importantly, I do NOT offer crisis counselling or support for urgent or highly distressing issues. If you are finding yourself distressed, need urgent support, or are suicidal please contact a crisis line, or call 911.
Online support is appropriate for most non-crisis related concerns relating to: new motherhood, parenting challenges, relationships, sense of self and identity, life transitions, anxiety, postpartum challenges, motivation, social connection, internet or technology addiction, among others.
In order to work together, I will need to assess whether your concerns are something that a) I can help you with, and b) are suitable for distance counselling support. We will have this conversation during the consult call.
How Does Billing Work?
I am happy to offer a 1-hour session for $105 (CAD) plus applicable taxes (For comparison, the recommended rate in British Columbia for individual therapy is $120 for a 50 minute session).
What does 1-hour mean for online counselling?
Video sessions are similar to in-person counselling, where you and I "meet" (speak to one another) for 1-hour to address your concerns. Outside of that hour together, I spend time preparing for our session and writing notes afterwards.
You will be billed the day after each session is complete, which happens after our call has ended.
You will receive an email notification of an invoice, which you can pay online. I accept all major credit cards through PayPal, or you can e-transfer through email.
I ask that sessions are paid for within 3 days of billing.
Most extended health benefit plans in BC will offer some kind of counselling coverage, but make sure to check with your provider.
I am registered in BC (as an Registered Clinical Counsellor, RCC, with the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors) and also registered across Canada (as a Canadian Certified Counsellor, CCC, with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association).
I do not do direct billing. Please contact your insurance provider to see whether you can be reimbursed
I Don't Live In BC, is That Okay?
The counselling world has been rapidly growing and changing, and the profession is catching up to the digital world!
At this time, counsellors in Canada are advised to practice within their own province. While many counsellors are practicing across the country and even the globe, I have decided to only provide counselling services to BC residents in order to comply with the regulatory body recommendations.
How Do I Get Started?
Step 1. Book Free Consult Call
Consider whether you'd like to have a phone or video consult call. To book your phone consultation, visit my calendar and select a time that works for you. I'll confirm the appointment, and call you at that time.
If you'd prefer a video consultation call, you'll need to register to be a client, which then allows you to access my full counselling calendar and select a time for a video consult call. All video sessions operate with this online system.
This is a great chance for you and I to ask questions and assess whether distance counselling is the best fit for you.
Step 2. Book Your First Full Session
All clients need to register through the secure client portal before our first session (this is where our emails, video chats, assessment, forms, and scheduling take place).
So after you decide to proceed with counselling, make sure you're registered as a client, and then go ahead and book your first video session.
